Nitrogen Determination
Analysis: Proceed as directed in the chapter on the subject. Each mL of 0.01 N sulfuric acid is equivalent to 1.25 mg of C2H7NO3S.
Acceptance criteria: 98.5% to 101.5% on the dried basis

IMPURITIES
Residue on Ignition: NMT 0.3%
Chloride and Sulfate, Chloride:
Standard: 0.50 mL of 0.020 N hydrochloric acid
Sample: 0.7 g of Taurine
Acceptance criteria: NMT 0.05%
Chloride and Sulfate, Sulfate:
Standard: 0.25 mL of 0.020 N sulfuric acid
Sample: 0.8 g of Taurine
Acceptance criteria: NMT 0.03%
Iron: NMT 30 ppm
Related Compounds: To pass the teat by chromatography.
Loss on Drying: Dry a sample at 105C for 3 h: it loses NMT 0.3% of its weight.
